IBAM 1st International Congress of Alternative Medicines & Convocation Ceremony
After the Stupendous success of 2nd All India Congress on Alternative Medicines held on 5th June 1993, IBAM took a step further and launched its 1st International Congress of Alternative Medicines & Convocation Ceremony on 1st December 1993. It was held in Park Hotel, Calcutta. The occasion being strategically placed on the World AIDS Day, had the themeAIDS – Time for Action in synchrony with the theme of the significant day.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Shri Probodh Chandra Sinha, Honourable Minister, Deptt. Of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal. Shri Kalimuddin Shams, Honourable Minister, Govt. of West Bengal and Shri Mehboob Zahedi, Honourable Minister, Govt. Of West Bengal graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr. Justice Samir Mukherjee, Honorable High Court, Calcutta, and Dr. Sanat Biswas, High Sheriff of Calcutta/National Sheriff of U.S.A. were Special Guests of Honour. Prof. M.P. Upadhyay, Honourable Consul General of Nepal was Guest of Honour. Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder, Ex. Union Education Minister, chaired the occasion.
Mr. Justice Samir Mukherjee inaugurated the convocation ceremony that was held in this Congress. Mr. Probodh Chandra Sinha and Mr. Patit Paban Pathak Hon’ble Ministers, Govt. of West Bengal held the places of Guests-in-Chief. Special Guests of Honour were Dr. Sanat Biswas and Dr. Mani Sanyal Hon’ble Dy. Mayor of Calcutta. Mr. B. K. Singh, I.P.S Addl. Director General of Police, W.B. Mr. R.K.Handa, I.P.S were the Guests of Honour. The Convocation was addressed by Dr. Pratap Chandra Chunder.
Several National and International Delegates attended the Congress. About 600 delegates participated from round the Globe. Participants from countries like U.K., U.S.A., Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bali, Uganda, South Africa, Italy, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Thailand and many more are mention worthy. Renowned Practitioners in different field of Health and Healing like Allopathy, Herbal Medicine, Naturopathy, Magnetotherapy, Yoga Therapy, Acupuncture, Tebetan Medicine, Accupressure, Medical Astrology Homoeopathy, Holistic Healing, Sujok etc. were participants and speakers in the Congress.
The International Congress received the best wishes and messages from various eminent and iconic personalities round the Globe like, Mother Teresa, The Secretary General of Boutros Boutros , Ghali, President of India, Officer on Special Duty to the Vice President of India, Secretary to the Vice-President of India, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha, S. Mallikarjun Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Lok sabha, Mr. A. B. Vajpayee Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha. Governor of different States like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and many more, Speakers and Deputy Speakers of different Legislative Assemblies also forwarded their heartfelt messages, the then Chief Ministers of states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur also extended their support, Mr. H.D. World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF also supported the occasion and wished for its grand success.
