IBAM - 2nd All India Congress On Alternative Medicines

Overwhelmed by the stimuli and stir that 1st All India Congress on Alternative Medicines & Convocation created, IBAM held its 2nd All India Congress on Alternative Medicines on 5th June 1993, i.e. on World Environment Day. This occasion was organized at Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Auditorium, Calcutta. The theme observed in this Congress was “Environment, Health and Holistic Approach”.

The ceremony was inaugurated by H.H. Swami Lokeswaranandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture. Mr. Probodh Chandra Sinha Hon’ble Minister. Deptt. Of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Congress was Chaired by Prof. Dr. Sanat Biswas, Ex Sheriff of Calcutta & Hony. National Sheriff of U.S.A.. Guests of Honour listed many high profile personalities, to name some are Mr. Mani Sanyal, the then Deputy Mayor, Calcutta Municipal Corporation, Mr. Justice Umesh Chandra Banerjee, High Court, Calcutta, Prof. Dr. Sunil Thakur, Presidency Surgeon, Mr. Sita Ram Sharma, Director World Federation of United Nations Association (Asia & Pacific Region), Dr. N. Bhattacharjee, General Secretary, All India Practitioners Association, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Sarkar, News Editor, Press Trust of India, New Delhi.

The ceremony was attended by several delegates and dignitaries. About 300 participant were present in this auspicious occasion and shared their valued views through this congress.     

This occasion also received many best wishes and blessings of many eminent personalities. To name some; Mr Chandra Shekhar of Samajwadi Janata Party, Mr. Ajit Kumar Panja, Minister of Coal India, Mr L. K. Advani Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha, Governors of many states like Haryana, the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Mr. George Fernandes Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Mr. Prasanta Chatterjee the then Mayor of Calcutta, Mr. Mani Sanyal the then Deputy Mayor, Mr. Sitaram Kalanoria, Secretary General United Nations Youth Organisation.
